A New Tool For Treating and Preventing Hair Loss
Ways for men to deal with and treat hair loss have been around for a very long time – as long as 5,000 years if you go back far enough. From devices and products to cover up the void, to mixtures and concoctions applied to the head, it seems anything was worth a try. From goat pee, to pigeon droppings, to horseradish and more, just about everything was tried at one time or another. Even some of the wisest men of ancient times – Aristotle, Hippocrates – obsessed over keeping their locks. The point is, men’s desire to not lose their hair is nothing new. Fortunately, things have come a long way since then. Today, we have modern science and medicine on the side of helping to figure out what’s really going on with hair loss, and coming up with real, evidence-based treatments that help.
Products like minoxidil are pretty much known to everyone by now. Initially marketed as a hair loss prevention and hair growth product as Rogaine®, it has since become available generically under a multitude of brand names. Finasteride is another medication used to prevent hair loss and promote hair growth. It was introduced to the market as Propecia®, but is also now widely available generically. Minoxidil and finasteride are the two most widely tested and medically proven drugs to treat hair loss and growth. They are nothing new, but what is new is the way they have now been combined to work together, along with a third ingredient, with an advanced delivery system to maximize their effectiveness.
Riize Health is once again leading the way in innovation when it comes to products and access for personal health care through telemedicine. What's in the Riize Hair solution?
The active ingredients in the Riize Hair compound are minoxidil, finasteride and biotin. They have been compounded in a way to give you the maximum benefit of all three, both individually and together. It’s worth a closer look at each of them.
Minoxidil
Minoxidil was originally developed by Upjohn pharmaceuticals in 1968 as a pill to treat high blood pressure. In addition to lowering blood pressure, it was observed that the patients who were using it also experienced an increase in hair growth on the scalp and body. The association between minoxidil and hair physiology resulted in the formulation of a topical version.
It should be said that no one knows exactly what the exact mechanism is for minoxidil being an effective hair loss treatment. However, we do know it is a vasodilator, meaning it dilates, or widens blood vessels, as it was originally intended to do for high blood pressure. When you start using minoxidil topically, it releases chemicals that widen blood vessels in the scalp, supplying miniaturized follicles with nutrients and oxygen necessary for cell division and healthy hair growth. It is also known that this helps prolong the anagen, or growth phase, of the hair follicles.
By enlarging follicles that have shrunk, minoxidil can thicken hair by producing stronger, healthier strands. Many people notice an increase in the density of them as well.
After many years of research and clinical trials, minoxidil was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 1988 as the first drug proven to promote hair regrowth.
Finasteride
Finasteride has a story similar to minoxidil in that it was originally used in treatments of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), which is non-cancerous enlarged prostate. Finasteride was developed to be an inhibitor of the 5-alpha reductase enzyme. That is the enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT, a more potent form of testosterone. DHT plays a role in the growth and repair of the prostate, and the production of sebum and body hair composition. Finasteride was approved as a treatment medication for enlarged prostate in 1992. It was subsequently approved by the FDA in 1997 as a treatment for hair loss, based on its ability to block production of DHT.
DHT has a direct relationship to hair loss, as it can disrupt a hair follicle’s natural cycle, triggering a miniaturization of the follicle. When DHT binds to hair follicles on the scalp, it decreases their blood supply. Over time, this strangulation of the blood supply causes the follicles to shrink. It also forces them into a resting phase, and causes the affected hair strands to grow back finer and weaker each time. Finasteride causes a significant drop in both scalp and blood levels of DHT and its effect is felt to be related to both of these factors. By inhibiting the conversion of testosterone into DHT, finasteride can reduce both the amount and the effect that DHT can have on the hair.
The combination of minoxidil and finasteride provides increased blood supply and nutrients to the hair follicles, while at the same time limiting the amount and damaging effects of DHT. That is why they are commonly prescribed together for their combined benefits in preventing and restoring hair loss.
Biotin
Biotin is one of the B-complex group of vitamins closely related to the health of your hair. It helps in the production of keratin, the protein responsible for forming nails, skin and hair. While research is still being done on its role in hair growth, it has been shown to help with hair loss prevention, and contributes to overall hair health.
The best time to prevent hair loss
The fact is, most men will experience some degree of hair loss at some point in their life. A number of different factors can affect it, including genetics, diet, stress, lifestyle and overall health. However, it’s now possible to mitigate some of those factors and prevent and hair loss with treatments like minoxidil and finasteride that have been proven scientifically and medically.
And the time to start is as soon as you notice the signs of hair loss, or when it’s starting to weigh on your mind. As the saying goes, it’s easier to keep the hair you have, than play catch up when it goes. But either way, the level of effectiveness in products like Riize Hair offers can help.
Riize Hair topical solution comes with a calibrated dropper for precise, mess-free application. And the Riize Hair oral dissolving strips provide fast, accurate dosing that goes directly to your bloodstream, going to work immediately with less degradation of the active ingredients and a greater amount of the dose intact.
Riize Hair products give you the two most effective hair loss prevention and hair growth medications, along with a vitamin essential to your hair, all in one compound. You can choose to use it in the traditional way, as a topical application, or you can use it through a fast dissolving oral strip, enhancing its absorption. In either case, you will be getting a compound formula of the most innovative hair loss and growth medication available.
But perhaps the best thing about the Riize Hair system is that you can also use both products together – the topical solution and a once-a-day dose of the oral dissolving strip. This combined regime of using both prescribed formulas through different forms of delivery is a revolutionary new approach, and a new tool for the medical treatment for hair loss. All it takes is a few minutes of your time to get started.
